All I've been hearing on CNBC for the past 3 months is how the US economy is in a recession, how Europe and Japan and the rest of the world is growing and the US is not ... and today's GDP report was a whopping 3.9%??? WTF?

Meg, I think anything above 3.5% is "Whopping" enough :)

3.9 % is not whopping, numbers are often revised later, they were not saying we were in a recession, but there was going to be one, CNBC is only relaying predictions that wall street experts make, experts predictions are no more accurate that assuming the next quarter will be the same as the current one. Remember that managed money by experts in mutual funds do not on average outperform indexes.

Most financial news reporting is entertianment just like all news channels.

The media has been predicting a recession for the past two years. Why care what they have to say?.
