hey, i take it you are wanting maori names, not names like queenie or nyree which are not maori.
emere is the maori version of emily
amiria is muriel
kataraina is catherine
kiri means skin
hine is the maori word for young girl and is a common maori name, sometimes other words are added to extend the description of the person, eg, hine ahu one, young woman made from mother earth.
marama is the moon another common name
aniwaniwa is the maori word for rainbow
kahurangi is both the colour blue and the nz falcon (i think, or its feather)
these web sites
http://www.babynamebox.com/maori-baby-names.html
http://www.babynamenetwork.com/origin.cfm?origin=Maori
has a small list but they dont give the maori names a misinterpretation
i had a quick look at
http://www.babynamesworld.com/
although these are names that are in maori, alot of them do not havr maori origins, eg, it say that arana means rock, arana is the maori equivalent for alan and alan means rock. the maori term for rock is kohatu or pohatu, the web site gives an idea of names but the origins and meanings of the names are not indepth enough
hope i could help, sorry about the rambling on and on, i hope you find a fantastic name for your daughter that will do her justice. congrats!
