The last 2 years when I passed out candy I had a LOT of adults (like in their 30's and 40's) with NO kids come to my door with pillow-cases for candy. (and not even bothered to get dressed in costume) They would screech down the street stopping at any house with the porch light on, and 10 of them would tumble out of the car like it was a friggin clown-car or something and come RUNNING up the porch steps and pound on the door, SCREAMG "trick o treat!!" - - - SO obnoxious. I wanted so many times to say "um, sorry...but I only do this for the kids - run along"....but I was afraid someone will get violent, or come back to my house when I'm not home and break in or something.

Now my question is: Why would they ruin Halloween like this? I had parents steer their kids away from my house and move across the street when they saw all these big people acting like fools on my porch.

It wouldn't be a question of race if I had both black and white people do this, but there were NO white

people doing this. ONLY black people. And it wasn't a question of poverty - - - these people are dressed in clothes nicer then anything I own.

So why why why......do these people ruin Halloween? Why do black people do this, but not white people? Anyone else experience this?

As crazy as this may sound because I'm black, it doesn't surprise me. Our urban youth have become pretty disrespectful in todays world and it bothers me. Personally speaking, if I were you, I'd be peeking out of my window and when I see this car coming I wouldn't answer my door. Let them ruin someone elses Halloween.

I understand the not wanting them to do something to your home too because chances are they would but if it appeared that you were not home, they have no reason to egg your or toilet paper your home. Maybe alerting your Alderman about this is a good idea also.

I've started turning my porch light off at 7pm...all the little kids are done by then. I've also had that problem and I don't understand it. The people that came to my door were not as old as the ones you are talking about (probably in their 20's), but there they were...sticking out their pillow cases, no costumes, rudely saying "Trick or Treat", and all of them were black. I just don't understand it.

With the poor quaility of security and the fact that people think you should "give" to every cause I don't participate in the Halloween tradition anymore.Infact at 5 PM I turn on the sprinklers in my yard and keep them on until 9 PM.
I do donate candy and money to local organizations that have "controlled" trick or treating at the youth football/baseball fields.

Wow, that's crazy! No, I've never seen anything like that. Maybe it was just a Halloween Party gone awry? Drunk people messing around? I guess I'm not sure what would possess anyone to do that. You said it happened 2 years in a row...Wow. That's really strange. Maybe if it happen again you could call the police I'm sure that sober people wouldn't do that. Or you could laugh like you're in on the joke & ask them what they're doing, I guess.
