Examples-In '53 the Shah of Iran was overthrown."Soft left" social democrat Mossedeq was elected. The US funded and assisted Islamic rightists to overthrow him and put the Shah back on the throne. In '79, those Islamic militants overthrew the Shah themselves, and put in power the current Islamic Republic. In Panama, CIA employee Manuel Noreiga helped kill left-leaning president Torrijos and took over Panama. Being self-centered imperialists, our nation doesn't recognize the effects of its policies until the blowback.

Heh, and Americans wonder why the rest of the world hates them. They help create their own enemies by giving out funding with way too little thought, and impulsive violence doesn't make them any better.

Nothing new and certainly not exclusive to the US.
Remember Chamberlain and 'Peace in our time'?
Foreign affairs is a matter of deciding which SOB you are going to support and which SOB you are going to oppose at any given moment in history. Every one of them is an SOB to some degree. You can't reject them all.

This is nothing unique. Not all the choices panned out in favor of everyone's view of morality but, as long as we remain the most powerful nation in the world, I'll live with it.
Consider the alternative.

You seem to be a member of the "blame America first, last and always" crowd. If people hate us, it is too bad for them. The US has done the right things in the world. Those who oppose us are wrong.
