I have just called the landlord and lodged a complaint about the noisy neighbour, what will they do now?

They claim that they will speak to the neighbour but for some reason I think it will fall on deaf ears.

Has anyone else been in this predicament?

Talk to your neighbours and be reasonable when you do, they might just surprise you and do the right thing :)

I'm currently going through the same thing, you will probably be advised to keep a noise/nuisance diary for at least a month so as to gather evidence. Also get in touch with your local council and ask them for advice. If there is no improvement then court action could be taken against the neighbour.

As has happened to us the noise got a lot worse once they were notified of the complaint (even vandalising our car), but keep calm and focused. Eventually it will get sorted out as the police, local council etc. are really helpful & sympathetic towards this sort of problem which we were told is rapidly on the increase. (Our neighbours have been given a warning they will be evicted).

It'll probably get worse now for a while. Don't rise to the bait and they'll get bored. Carry on keeping your records/diary.
