I auditioned for Godspell about a week ago. I am really excited to see what part I get!!!! I have light brown hair, blue green eyes, and 4'11 and 105 pounds. I'm also 11 years old. I'm pretty loud, fun, and kinda tomboyish.
Here is my theatre experience:

Goin' Buggy!- Lead Ladybug
Elfis and the Sleigh Riders- Reindeer
Aladdin Jr.- Kazoul
Once Upon A Mattress-Lady Rowena

So, as you can see, I havent had too much sucess with getting good parts... Anyway, at the audition I sang "Many Moons Ago" from Once Upon a Mattress. I thought I sounded pretty good, but the director didn't stand up and cheer...
Anyways, what part do I deserve?

No one is going to stand up and cheer at your audition... getting any role is good. You sound like you're impatient to get what you consider to be a 'good' role, but any role is good. While you got Lady Rowena, others got ensemble. Be grateful. No one here can tell you what role you may get. The show is an ensemble effort show. Every role is important. if you get in you should be grateful.

If you sang well, you did proper preparation, and behaved professionally at the auditiond then hope for the best. You don't know how the other auditionees did so all you can do is wait. There are usually only 4 females in the show FYI and unless this is a childrens' production I don't see how they would cast you or if they plan to have a chorus.

good luck,
Marianne

I just did this show this summer. It's hard to tell what the director will do, but here are some brief descriptions of the female characters based on Stephen Schwartzs' notes:

Robin- A bit of a tomboy, but basically open and sweet. She is the first of the group to commit to following Jesus in the song "Day by Day."

Joanne- The confident one, the show-off. The first one to volunteer, sometimes jumps in before she really understands what's going on.

Peggy- The shy one. Sometimes a little slow to get things, but when she does, she commits all the way. Has an "earth mother" kind of warmth to her.

Sonia- Sassy and slightly cynical, the most urban of the group. Also the "sexy" one, but her sexiness contains a large element of put-on, in the manner of Mae West or Madonna(who in fact once played this role).

Gilmer- The female equivalent of the class clown. Goofy and a cut-up. this is the female role that sings least, and therefore should be cast with a strong comedienne.

Robin sounds like it would work for you and Day By Day is a Beautiful song! Good luck !

If you get a role it will be the one the directors think you will be most efffective in. If you do not get a role, the directors did not think there was a role that you could do better than someone else. Do not despair. There will be lots of other shows.
