It's normal. The funny thing is, all newborns come out looking so alien - they just do, but all parents think their baby is sooo gorgeous. Just know, you will be captivated by your child!

I don't think its vain really. I think its pretty normal. Some of it probably comes from wanting your child to not be put in a position of ridicule, and being beautiful and "normal" can spare a child from some of the ridicule.

I would only find a problem with it, if it went so far as to reject a child because of their looks, or go to extreme lengths to chnage their looks, but it doesn't sound like you're talking about something that extreme.

No, it's perfectly normal. What would be inappropriate and vain would be to reject the baby if he or she wasn't attractive enough. But that won't happen. Your baby is beautiful no matter what they look like.

It is totally natural. I did the same thing while I was pregnant. But as soon as I got close to labour I only thought about wanting a baby that was healthy. After I went into labour I didn't even think about whether I was having a girl or a boy, it didn't matter. I had a boy and it was amazing. Good luck!

Its totally normal. everyone wants a good looking kid regardless of what they say outwardly. "as long as its healthy blah blah blah!!!"

BUT no matter what your child looks like you will think they are the most gorgeous things in nappies when they are born. I did! but on reflection my daughter was an 'ugly' baby but has flourished into a gorgeous young girl that gets so many compliments. My son was always cute right from the start and he knows it!!! I'm realistic enough to admit this and it doesn't make me love either of them less. They are my beautiful angels so perfect the way they are.

Everyone wants a good looking kid but how much emphasis you put on it is another story.

It's not vain, it's pretty normal. Millions of thoughts run though your head and of course worry about looks is one of them. Of course your going to think your baby is the cuttest thing in the world when he or she is born.

Yeah I think it's a bit vain but no matter what it looks like you'll think it's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen and no one will ever tell youotherwise.

I did all the time when I was pregnant, I wanted to know if she would be pretty, or have my eyes or blonde hair, etc. It is very normal, and not inappropriate, unless you do it all the time and ignore people and don't do your job, lol
