Because the book ending was kind of too predictable.

I think it would be cool to see what would happen if Harry had decided to die after speaking to Dumbledore. Voldemort would've taken over and the epilogue would have been a hell of a lot different LOL

The problem is all endings can be said to be predictable. Over all I see no need for an alternate ending as I believe that this one neatly tied up all of the pieces and hints given during the series. Events in life work to create a certain conclusion and, in this case, I belive that the ending flowed logically from these events. Another ending may have been "less predictable" but only because it would have relied on changing the events in the previous 6 books.

Actually it wan't predictable for me. I expected ron and hermione to get together, but not necessarily Harry & Ginny (he DID break up with her at the end of HBP). I also expected either Harry, Ron or Hermione to die (hmm, maybe not Harry... everyone thought Harry would die, so i thought..JK wouldnt do something so predictable). I didn't expect an actual epilogue, just more of an ending. I didn't expect the ending to be all happiness..i expected some dangers lurking. So yeah, thats what i think. I am happy with the ending (as in, what happens), but ...i duno, i still feel a little unsatisfied. I guess i understand where you're coming from when you say its predictable, though.
well,anyway, take care

well, i think everyone knows that voldemort will die thats kinda obvious, but i like the ending. all the secrets are revealed and evrything about the elder wand was unraveled, and i like books like that. nah, an alternate ending isn't needed.

How about Draco falling in love with his long time enemy, Hermione?
Alternative enough?
