Saying that a person should not be a parent because of bad spelling is pretty ridiculous and very cruel and unkind. Do you seriously think their ability to spell alone will impact their parenting?

NOT to criticize, Peepz, but since you're backing up the unkind critics, I believe the word you're looking for is "is."

No. There are people in this world that cannot even read and are a better parent than ones that have gone to college. You can believe anyone on here.

I think the person who made the tacky (don't think it was "horribly rude") was probably tired of reading so many questions from people who are either lazy about their typing or truly uneducated. But there is a tiny ring of truth in questioning whether someone lacking basic communications skills won't become another burden on society.
But others who comment that parenting skills have more to do with other abilities - e.g., patience, love, concern, dedication, insight - than with the ability to compose a coherent sentence are right-on-target. Bear in mind, though, that America's success has resulted from generations of parents who worked-for a better life for their children, including providing those children a decent education. Now that we as a nation have seemingly lost that orientation, our children's children's economic future is in doubt. We don't seem to ask much from our children and that's what we're getting - not much.

I don't think that bad spelling should be abused, but there is spell check on here, and maybe some of those people with spelling problems can use it. Or even do what I do and give a quick proof read before you post it. Come on it is hard enough to read some questions without bad spelling in there too.

I agree, people can be so unbelievably cruel in their answers sometimes. And, in some cases words are not in the correct order, and spell check will do nothing to help that. Whatever happened to following the old phrase "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". If the question is worded that badly, or the spelling is that poor then don't answer and maybe they'll try to correct it and re-post.

i agree with you strongly on this there are some people on here that r just to rude to other people not everyone comes from a English speaking country so why criticize them just because they cant spell what they r trying to say and yes i sometimes have problems with spelling not that i cant spell but i forget sometime how to spell the most obvious words so i would say if you have not got anything to say about there subject just leave them alone but no you wont you would rather get your 2 lousy point instead

Often it is just a typo.
The real problem is people on YA looking for opportunities to insult and be very cruel and unkind to the nicest people.
When I put a question under religion, an idiot atheist responded by complaining I did not mention God, and never answered what I was asking. He was obviously poised to spew his faithless venom.
We need to report these evil ones!!! Insults are not the purpose of this forum.
Some of you give such horribly rude answers to people that you are apt to kill YA, and drive away those of us who are trying to be real!
Why are children so cruel?
Why are adults you never grew up dogging our heels?
It makes you want to not even try.
But don't give up.
They treated our Lord thus also (we are not above our master), and the apostle Paul said "Count it all joy" when people hurt you (an amazing comment)!!!
God bless you mothers! God LOVES you, and so do I.

I wouldn't flat-out say that to a person. The temptation is overwhelming, though. I've seen some stunningly illiterate questions here.
Does that affect one's ability to be a loving parent? No.
Does it bode ill for the child's academic success? Possibly. I certainly wouldn't want some of these people helping my son with this homework.
The mother of three who wanted to know if she could get "preganet" after a reversed "tuble" comes to mind. I doubt those kids are going to be winning spelling bees.

That example to me looks like it could be a chinese woman, you get so many people on here from everywhere around the world and yes its not nice, but at the same time you get some silly kids on here and you know full well they are kids and are messing around, you just have to look at their previous questions to see what their up to!!! So sometimes some people might get it wrong whos actually pissing about and who is really genuine!

I don't think it just spelling. The educational system and lack of it in this country is the reason people respond negatively. Lack of overall Intelligence is the reason our society is going in the shitter and crime rate it high. With good education comes a more peaceful and advantageous society.
And people are way lazy... I mean there is a spell check button.
