Surprised that you think that taking drugs and sleeping around are fun things. There are a lot of people out there hooked on drugs that if they could think rationally, would wish that they have never started. The same with uncontrolled sleeping around. There are a lot of people that are suffering long term effects of sexually transmitted diseases of which AIDS is one, and would love to be able to turn the clock back and change the way they led there lives. Drinking! Nothing wrong with that as long as you do not become addicted and as long as it does not cause people to get violent due to over indulgence. As for those words written 2000 or more years ago, these 10 commandments have been the prop to civilised living. ie. relating to adultery, murder, stealing etc. Surely you would not like laws change or deleted just because they are based on very old teachings.

They are called vices and once addicted people go out of control. These vices might be fun things in the beginning but it's destruction is several magnitude higher than the religious bygots.

The people running this world want to remain doing so. If they have you so worried about the state of the world you wont notice that 7 people own the whole world and manipulate global affairs to suit their own ends. Definition of religion - wanting others to believe what you tell them.

I'm not religious and I've decided those things are 'bad' because I've had my share of bad experiences with them and I don't want a repeat of any of those mistakes. I don't really care what other people do but I've learned those things are bad for ME. I like knowing that I don't have to worry about any of the problems that may go along with that stuff anymore.

Its about seeing what is fun in the short term and the long term.

Getting dsrunk is fun in the short term. In the long term it involves hangoversm, liver disease, decreased libido, and early death. Not very fun at all.

Same with smoking, drug taking.

Sleeping around is more interesting. Yes a one night stand is fun in the short term, but in the long term sex is more satisfying in a stable relationship (and STD free too)

It all comes down to whether you see fun as being a short term or long term goal!

i think anything in moderation is fine as long as you dont annoy other people. other people dont have to like seeing drunks staggering about and falling all over them. also its not good for your health. - its old and cliche but drugs and alcohol in excess will kill you in the end.

I am a firm believer in dont knock it till youve tried it. So I can agree with you in some ways i guess.

But also there is a fair amount of people who have tried it and still not found happiness ..........
