Are these worth it?

For that matter, are any "pay as you go" phones worth the hassle.....and do they end up being cheaper than locking into a contract?

Thanks,

Primo

It kind of depends on how much you will be using a cell phone, to be honest.

If you only use it for emergencies and such, then a pay as you go plan is not so bad. If you are like us, and use your cell phone as if it were a land line, I'd definitely recommend getting on a plan.

Personally, I use suncom and have always been pleased with them. They have a large variety of plans and were very accommodating, in terms of finding a plan that fit OUR needs. We've been able to upgrade to better phones over the years, for little to nothing.

Good Luck!

Hi Primo I don't really know the answer to this but would think it is most dependent on how much you use the phone. For me, I like the contract because I control my use better that way. Plus I have a set amount each month that I can budget my money on.

hahaha-- you know my parents bought me a cell phone because my husband refuses to join the crowd in owning one. And I have had one for over 2 years now and STILL forget to turn it on, or even take it with me! I am not very trained in cell phone using even to this day....sad, I know.
But we just got news one, through At&t....I have no idea about the "go" phones. So you just pay as you go eh? That means no monthly payments? Hmmm-- could be worth it if you do not use your cell phone much- LIKE ME!
I'll get better at taking it with me though....this new one I have actually takes pictures, how exciting is that-- yeah I know, they have had those around now for a few years, I am sooo old school! haha. See, I am always behind!

all depends on the contract i suppose, and how much you'll be using the phone.

don't know about cingular, but most contracts for cell phones lock you in for years and during that time your cell needs will most likely change, but then you're stuck.

it will make sense IF you are planning to be a SMALL user of phone. Plus if you think about it is $20 bucks will let you try out the service then why not rather signing contract and stuck with it for life time. You might want to check out http://cellphonesmarket.com/showthread.php?t=132
hope it helped

I honestly don't have an answer for this, but I'm starring it so that maybe one of my contacts does.
