Lord, I hated those big clunky shoes, and I had to wear them with uniforms until I was 16

I wore them in 8th grade and I think my Freshman year. After
that, it was white suede bucks, that became the trend. Everyone had these white powder packets we would slap onto the suede to whiten them up when they got scuffed. The
remaining years were totally flat shoes. Only the colors
changed and the decoration on top, when you would put
special clips on the shoes to dress them up. Senior year were
black flats always. Everyone cool wore them. And the name
blouses which had your name embroidered on the collar.
Heels weren't any big deal. Especially when you wanted to
dance. So if anything we had little heels or fancy flats in
satin and died in colors to match our formals. That was the
biggie, shoes that matched your dress perfectly. I had a pair
with a big flat bow on top, in white. I think they were good for
one wearing, before they looked ready to toss.

I have not been able to answer any of your questions, for several days, now and I am perplexed as to this question.
Saddle Shoes? Hmmm, Saddle Shoes? Hmmm, Saddle Shoes HHMMMM!!!
Hon, I do remember, and know the following about saddles and shoes:: Saddles;, trees, horns, candles, skirts, cinches, stirrups, concho's, blankets / pads, seat.
Shoes;, Western boots(?shoes?), working boots, and shoes, safety boots / shoes, horse, mule ( Hell, I even know where 'Muleshoe, Texas', as well as saddle back mountain, west of Palo Verde Nuclear Station, Arizona, Los Dos Chivos Zapatas,( 2 goat shoes) in the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains, northern Mexico,) How about "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis back when I was in the US Army, mid 50's, the great grand dad's of the modern tongs, worn by the Mexican ranch & farm hands back before the 1960's, made by cutting the tread from an old car tire, and tying them to the feet with rubber straps, or for the 'rico / rich' hands, the tire treads were tied on by LEATHER, I wore zapatos rodillas ( knee pads made like the tire tread shoes, but worn on the knees, when picking cotton or vegetable crops, my mechanic knows what is a brake shoe, but hon, I have no Idea what a "saddle Shoe" is.
Either we ; 1. are not speaking the same lingo, 2. come from a different part of the universe, or 3. I am in a different time zone.
HHHMMMMMM Saddle Shoes?? HMMMMM, Sorry, I do not have the foggist Idea of what a "Saddle Shoe" is.
I Just Thought A Smile Might Be In Order, for today.
Btw, I do remember the 'saddle shoes' from the 50's / 60's, but I did not think there were many of us ol' foggies, around.

Saddle shoe, poodle skirts and at least 4 crinoline half slips, dancing the jitter bug and I was in heaven.

Oh, just to go back to the 50's for a short visit.

I also liked dancing to What a Wonderful World by Schmo Louis Armstrong. Maybe that came a little later.

I never got the saddle shoes but I did get the White Bucks that Pat Boone wore. I really thought that I had arrived. I still remember the smell of the white powder I used to clean them with everyday. It`s been years since I`ve thought about those shoes. Thanks for the memory nudge.

Yes, I love saddle shoes and still have a pair of the black/white ones. We wore those and the girls from the rival high school in our county wore the brown/white ones.

I'm in the same boat as sage seeker. I wanted to wear them,
but my mother wouldn't let me because she thought the
white part on them got too dirty. I had those ugly brown
oxfords. I envied all the girls whose moms let them wear
saddle shoes. We did have uniforms in school, though and you had to wear black or brown shoes, but no saddle shoes.

Oh, I LOVED those shoes. That was a
real status symbol for me. I didn't get
much, but this was something the
"popular" girls had, so I thought I was
somebody. And I got a pink swirly skirt
with a poodle on it. Was that called a
"poodle skirt"? I don't know who got it
cause my grandma never had money to buy me new clothes.

Yes, I did also, it was part of our Catholic School Uniform.
Ours were white and tan. But I do remember one year I wore white bucks and remember cleaning them, by using the chalk board eraser to get the chalk dust all over them. I hated them too, they felt like clown shoes on my feet. Clomp, clomp, clomp.
