The idea of the United Nations was in treaties signed by the Allied Nations in 1943. It was formally set up when the Charter was signed by 50 nations on 26 June 1945, the organisation coming into existence on the 24 October 1945 after the Charter had been formally ratified by the 5 permanent member of the Security Council (US, UK, Republic of China, USSR and France) and a majority of the 46 other members (Poland had joined after the first signing of the charter)

On 24 October 1945 and was known as "The League of Nations" and the first president of the UN was Sir Sultan Mohamed Agakhan III, also it's founding member.
It was supposed to be built on the Grand Island as an independent nation on the Niagara River between Canada & the US.
