I have just watched a number of gang postings glorifying drugs, violence, knife and gun crime mostly amongst what appears to be teenage boys.

You tube needs to take responsibility for these posts. This type of activity of glorification is killing our youths.

They should remove them now and stop profiting from murder.

Sorry. Should You Tube remove these posts?

In the end, it all boils down to where one draws the line. What you may consider obscene/ morally wrong or damaging, I may not agree.
In this case, your demands are reasonable, but don't you think moral education should be at home? This is a free world, one cannot and should not expect people to curb their creative impulses using the excuse that it is harmful to our youth. The youth should have strong enough moral values to decide what is right and wrong themselves.
I think it is strictly wrong for parents to blame their shortcomings in parenting skills on the media and exposure a child receives in todays world. (No offense intended, I am speaking generally for all the fanatical moral police out there)

I agree that those things are horrible, however, censorship is much worse. The only possible end to evil starts with a clear view of it.

If you think about it, real violence is not glorified. Hollywood's romantic choreographed violence or the sanitized propaganda violence we see on TV of real war is closer to "glorification" than these videos you speak of.

Neither You Tube nor the posting parties are profiting from these videos. Any single video is only a small portion of the vast volume of video content here or on any other major hosting site.

Profit comes only when the videos are displayed as part of a movie "for profit" or when the videos are part of a political agenda that profits directly from that portrayal of violence.

Murder is evil. Seeing it for what it is will be the best defense against it. Also, anyone who is stupid enough to actually post videos of their crimes is only providing evidence that can later be used against them.

Instead of removing such content, it should remain and simultaneously be sent to proper authorities. That way, the criminals can more easily be apprehended and prosecuted. Further, allowing the video to remain posted, especially if it leads to a successful prosecution, will serve as deterrent to other criminals.

Censorship is always ultimately wrong and serves NO good purpose. You are correct that this type of material is offensive, but then, the act of murder is offensive by definition. Censorship will not eliminate the actual evil, only its appearance.

I agree that feeding our children violence & agression whether on telly or on games is an evil of our times.
My little son is all of 5years & just loves those darn PowerRangers & DragonBall Z which is quite agressive. Even tho' he doesn't watch/ play them at home...its all in his face in action figures & toys & mugs & teeshirts...i do my best to get him involved in Winnie the Pooh & the Looney Tunes & Barney & Tikkabella & he calls me babyish...

Uh uh.... nah. Listen. PEOPLE need to take responsibility. If those postings offended you, you simply have to flag the video. It's not even hard and according to Youtube's TOS, those types of videos are not allowed, so go for it. It's people who complain about something and don't do anything that really burn me up.

Peace

I think they should - they can't carry on with their 'see no evil hear no evil' attitude. The spokeswoman on TV a few months ago when there was a Panorma on about bullying done nothing! She refused to accept responsibility for and content on You-Tube and said it was up to the public to report posts.

I agree, but there are millions of videos uploaded to youtube and it takes time to go through the videos which is why people can report the videos because it is against youtube policy.

Then why don't we get rid of MTV and BET too...

this isn't a question it's a rant, and that is clearly a violation of the TOS
