Do you believe there is comminication from loved ones that are no longer with us who have passed on?

I am a moderately religious person who believes in God and prays regularly. I strongly feel that I have been contacted by a loved one who has passed some 10 years ago. This goes against my faith and I have felt extremely conflicted about it because the person whom I speak of committed suicide which is the ultimate sin. If anyone can shed some light on this situation please help me. I am not interested in a hoax or anything resembling evil or satanic. I am a normal person feeling very confused and looking for some one to talk with who may have additional information, whether helpful to my particular situation or not, regarding this topic. I joined Yahoo to ask this question so I'm not entirely sure how it all works yet. I hope this will be fruitful. Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read through the long details.

The spirit world or the 4th dimension, which ever you choose to call it is all around you..
We live in the 3rd dimension, and we vibrate at a different frequency to other dimensions, that is why we rarely get a glimpse into the other worlds, and there are many..
These worlds are just as real as our own..

My mother recently passed on into the spirit world and for the first 2 weeks of her passing, I could smell her...
I could smell the oil of olay she wore I could smell that hint of perfume she wore, I could just smell mum...
My sister is also a Witch and extremely sensitive in these areas as am I, and she said the same thing was happening to her...

In the Northern Hemisphere tomorrow night is Halloween, or All Hallow's Day, or its original name Samhain (Sow-en)..
It is one of our Pagan festivals that the Christians intergrated into their own Lore..( I prefer to say stole, but that is another story)
Tomorrow night the veil between worlds is at its thinnest, perhaps you would like to try and contact your friend then..
If you have a picture of him/her, put it on a little make-shift altar, and perhaps something they owned or liked, put that there too.. Light a white, or a light-blue candle, some nice incense for the mood.. Then meditate on this person, and you may get a message from them...
If this has only recently occured, then you may find that your friend is taking opportunity of the veil being at its thinnest...

There may or may not be such contact possible. I can imagine scenarios where, for example, a loved one who has reincarnated might dream about you, and get through the barriers now dividing you that way. However, I do not know how this or any other spiritual connection is to be distinguished from imagination. I had what I believed for a very long time was communication from my dead grandmother when I was 12 years old. However, over the subsequent years, I have learned enough about my mind, including with psychoactive drugs, that I now doubt whether it was real. I realize it might have been my imagination. Recently neurologists have discovered that near-death experiences (lack of oxygen to the brain) cause visions which are basically what the person expected to see. I wonder if they are not on the verge of explaining a great deal about what has previously been inexplicable about our mental experiences.

I don't know how the communication happened. Did you see the person? Did you talk to the person? Did he/she say something? Did you dream of him/her?

Suicide is really a terrible choice. According to my religion, a spirit goes through a lot of suffering after the suicide. However, as you said it's been about 10 years, so he/she might be free of the suffering and being prepared to be born again. Do you know why he/she chose you to make contact?? Because you are a medium. Being a medium is a very important and beautiful gift from God and should be used only to God's purpose, never to your own purpose. Being a medium is achieving the highest level of humbleness and really being a servant of God, working as His tool to pass His messages and His angels' messages.

Try to remember what your beloved one told you. If he/she looked fine, bright or just happy, then he is really OK and maybe just want to say "hello" to you, then again because you are medium. In the other hand, if he/she looks sad, darkened or dressed in black, crying or just asking for help, then he needs spiritual help and you can help him/her, because you are a medium.

If he/she is OK, just listen to his/her message and say a prayer, he/she will go away. If he/she is not OK, pray for your spirit guides to take him/her to the right place where he/she can find treatment and care. If his/her appearance becomes too frequently and too disturbing, almost to the point you can't control it, you will need somebody else's help to help your friend to go away. I mean another medium, someone more prepared and more experienced than you are.

People think it is cute to receive messages from the dead, but in fact spirits are not supposed to make contacts to their own will. This is something serious and should only happen with the orientation and support of other mediums and in the right place. If he/she insists to come to you even after you pray for him/her, he/she really needs help, he/she really needs to go.

Edit: With all the respect to witches and wiccans, I would not light a candle to spirits with the intention to make contact with them without the right knowledge of what you are doing, especially tomorrow night. If you are a medium, and I think you are, you will not only attract your beloved one, but also other spirits, not so enlightened and good ones.

I believe that the soul is eternal.Dont feel anxious or confused.This person may miss you and now wants to establish contact with you.If you feel comfortable talking about it on Yahoo,then try and get in touch with this spirit.How did you feel when you were being "contacted"?Did ou feel peace or anxiety? May be this loved one wants to explain his/her decision to take their own life.I am sure the experience will be rewarding for you.Do you miss this person? If so, the feeling must be mutual.This person may not be alive but has been with you in spirit only you were unaware of their presence.Hope you have a happy reunion!!!!

I most definitely believe, I just know we are not all able to receive that communication. I think our souls or energies, whatever you want to call it, lives on eternally. Only our bodies die. I think loved ones try to communicate with us all the time. We need to focus more on little things that happen, theres usually a sign and sometimes we dont pay attention. It has happened to myself and many of my family members. When dad passed, my mom would talk to him about many concerns and things like pictures of him would fall off a wall, or a favorite song of his or their's would come on, or through dreams. Little signs are important to pay attention to.

The Greeks used to believe that when we dream of loved ones who have passed away, that is the way they are communicating with us. It's a notion I find quite comforting, at times. Hope this helps a bit. :)
