Not at all. It's because of the state of movies today. The movies that seem to make the most money today are of the mindless action type where good acting is not at all essential. It's too bad because these types of movies get boring after a while.

It's because they let themselves be degraded. What would happen if women in the movie business decided to say "NO, i will not play this part. I want a part that does not degrade me", then it would stop. But they don't do that, they do whatever to get money. it's all about the money...respect, especially self respect gets you no money.

The same reason men are completely degraded on TV (especially commercials.)
Actors need to eat.
Screenwriters & ad agencies are to blame that go with formulaic approaches & "go to the well" rather than being actually creative.
