Lapel pins are one thing; Since 9/11, the Bush administration has wrapped itself in the flag, as it rode roughshod over the constitution to extend it's executive power and steamroller the Dems. into submission - squeal 'unpatriotic' and it invariable gets what it wants.

Fathead; it is sald Obama (damn...why do I think of Bin Laden everytime I think of Obama) stopped wearing his wee pin - and is suffering as a result...of course, wearing the pin states the blindingly obvious, but has it not become a tacit emblem of the Bush doctrine in the 'war on terror'?

No. It can only be played by a player who is respected (in a patriotic sense.) For example McCain can play it many times being a former POW. However Bill was never able to play it and GB certainly isn't taken seriously when he tries. Hillary and Osama can't play it either. So in this election at least it isn't going to be a big factor.

If that is true, at least they are playing a positive card...sorry, but I just don't see the wrong in wrapping yourself in the flag...I wish more people in this country would do that......lets contrast the card you say the republicans play to the one the demoncrats play...the race card....who wants to be labeled a racist??...go ahead..label me a flag wrapper...I'll love it...but no one wants to be labeled a racist....like always, the libs use a negative.....the BIG difference is....the libs DO think that calling someone a flag wrapper is negative....to them, there is nothing worse then to be called that......which is very telling to the lib mindset don't you think??

I think it was Oscar Wilde who said that "Patriotism is the last refuge of a rouge." Need I say more?

have you noticed if you say we should not be in iraq or bush is doing a bad job, you get labeled as an unpatriotic terrorist sympathizer? In other words, don't disagree with "the man".

Is it so wrong to stand up for your country? Why are you just picking on the U.S.? What about the british aren't you patriotic about your parlimentary/monarhy or is it perhaps the other things you like most about your country?

You've got to identify what people are willing to be socially sanctimonious about and milk them on their weakness.

because its easy. Just like antizionism is labelled racist. No relationship what so ever but they invent one and ram it down our collective throats.
