I just had to write 1000 lines for school which was "I will remember to bring my textbook to class and I will never forget to do my homework again." My hand hurts soooo bad it feels like its going to fall off. My fingers are aching while typing this.
If you got lines:
1. What is the most lines you had to write?
2. What line did you write?
3. Did you hand hurt after?
4. How did you relax your hand after because my hand feels like it won't be able to write for a week?
5. Did you learn anythin from it?
I did, dont do anything bad or my hand will by huritng for hours.

Hi.. I had a 2hr after school detention last week for handing in my homework late. And for the whole 2 hours in detention i had to write.... 'I must remember to complete homework on time' and yes my hand was hurting after 1 hour! I must have got through near 1000 lines.

My hand ached for days afterwards, not much you can do to relax your hand, i guess dont do any writing.

I learned not to get another after school detention because i dont want to write anymore lines!!!

A thousand lines? Your teacher is incompetent. Take a couple of paracetamol or aspirin and put some ice on your hand, and stop obeying bad teachers.

If I've got one good piece of advice for you, it's NEVER take school seriously; it's not real life and the people who go on to be real success stories in life are the rebels and troublemakers - they're the ones who become strong leaders and entrepreneurs. I'm not saying that you should neglect your education, but I am saying that you have to teach yourself; take risks, do things that other people say are too ambitious and learn by your mistakes. You'll have a hell of a lot more fun than you would sitting in class like a robot with the rest of the drones and you'll learn a lot more.

School is just a place where adults rate you, but when you leave school the only thing that matters is how you rate yourself.

EDIT* Something you might not have realized is that they don't make you write lines to bore you (that's the official reason they will give you) they do it to cause you physical pain (wrist cramp and bruising) which I presume is still illegal in American public schools.

This was years ago (2nd grade), but I had to write lines as punishment. I was talking in class when I wasn't supposed to be, and the teacher told me to write "I will not talk when the teacher is talking" 500 times ... I don't remember if my hand hurt when I finished, but I was so sick of that one line that I never again talked in class unless the teacher asked me to answer a question ... The lesson stuck with me all the way through high school.

1000, wow, that's extreme. I have written a lot of lines in my time, I remember this one case that was just horrid. Like, it was something I will not do (whatever it was) because it affects people (in whatever way it did) and blah blah blah. It was horrid! But tip for you. Grab two identical pens (or even 3, 4, 5 whatever) and line them up in your hand (hold them side by side like you would with one pen) and write with both. Double the lines, half the time.

Next time you forget your textbook, tell the teacher that you couldn't carry it because your hand hurt so much from writing lines.

I never had to write lines as a punishment.

Your punishment obviously had the desired result since you have learned your lesson.

Think of it as being worth it.

Yes in detention you have to write lines in my school.
We have to write why you were in detention that day.
We have to write that for 1hr. than take it home and have our parents sign it.
I don't think i learn anything - because i still do get detention for the same thing.

I was good, and also remember things
like homework.
So I didn't have to be punished.
