I had a transvaginal ultrasound 2 times when I was 17 and was a virgin. I don't know that it did anything to my virginity and honestly didn't really worry about it that much since it was a gyneacologist that recommended it because I had a lot of problems with ovarian cysts.

I haven't heard that it can't be done if you're a virgin, however I would recommend you check with your doctor/gyno/sonographer before having your ultrasound done to discuss any concerns you might have.

Good luck :)

Yes, because the doctor is trying to find out what is causing her pain or bleeding. Some places when they do transvaginal ultrasound will just put the probe at the entrance and the signals go up, but most the special wand has to go inside to touch the actual organs.

I am a virgin and have had several ultrasounds done this way to check up on some of the female problems I have.

Having a transvaginal ultrasound doesn't change her from a virgin to sexually active. The change comes when she actually has sex.

I would recommend discussing your concerns with your doctor in greater detail as well.

I have only done one transvaginal ultrasound on a virginal patient. There would have to be a very good reason to do a transvaginal scan on a patient who is a virgin. If the patient is prepped properly, with a very full bladder, we can almost always get an adequate study with transabdominal imaging.

The size of the transvaginal transducer (camera) can seem very large to a young woman. Many virginal women don't use tampons, and those are much smaller. We feel that the experience of the transvaginal ultrasound might be traumatic, both physically and mentally to a virginal patient.

A Woman Virgin is a woman whose Hymen hasn't been broken.

It could be broken due to sex, horseback riding, gymnastics.. mutliple things that can stretch the hymen..

here's the thing.. the Hymen is ver flexible.. but there is no guarantee that the transvaginal ultrasound won't break her hymen.

Have you seen the transvaginal ultrasound tool?? It kinda looks like a Mr. Microphone that they put inside of you..

Now here's my bottom line..

If the doctor is authorizing this transvaginal ultrasound for a serious health reason.. like cervical cancer.. or cysts.. etc.. then it really shouldn't matter if the hymen gets broken in the process or not.... your HEALTH and LIFE is more important than your physical virginity.

With that said.. talk to the doctor.. and let him or her know you're a virgin and then they can take extra care to try to not break your hymen.. but again .. there is never any guarantee.. but I am pretty sure they'll be able to do it and still keep you a physical virgin.

Good luck and I hope you're okay. =)

If one needs to be done for diagnostic purposes, they are advisable for anyone, virgin or not. The transvaginal ultrasound will not make a virgin lose her virginity.

Hymens are over rated. They don't hold much value in modern society. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
