I know some people get PhDs and stuff, but I'm wondering about before that.

I'm planning to get a bachelors of science in psychology, but is there some kind of degree that only clinical psychologists pursue or one that I should be pursuing or considering for the future?

If you want to be a clinical psychologist then you'll have to get that PhD. If you want to go into counseling then a master's degree should be sufficient. In either case you will have to take state exams that will license you to practice in your chosen field.

You will want to pursue a masters program. A masters in psy, or a masters in social work, can both lead to a clinical field.

in order to practice clinical psychology you need to get at least a PhD. In today's APA community however you really need an MD in order further your career and make a higher income
