For the same reason that people lie anywhere else: to make themselves more interesting than they are and for acceptance that they dont get out there in the real world.

People that lie constistantly lack the moral courage to tell the truth because frankly the just want to be on the other side of the tracks. They could care less who you are or how you feel because they don't respect themselves so how can they respect you!!

Its quite obvious, most are damaged souls with a history of abuse or neglect who think so little of them selves that they feel the need to fabricate story's in order to gain attention to off set the fact that they find love in a bag of "Doritos"they weigh three hundred pounds and even their step dad will not have sex with them. It all so transparent.
