People allow themselves to be controlled in relationships for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, they have difficulty asserting themselves. Sometimes they feel undeserving. Sometimes they are physically afraid, especially if they grew up in a home with violence. Sometimes they are afraid of abandonment. Sometimes it is easier than taking personal responsibility.

Often a controlling partner will seek out people with any of these problems and will exploit them, for example using physical intimidation or telling their partner than they couldn't do any better or shaming them for expressing their desires and preferences.

That dynamic can get to be so destructive that the controlled person becomes convinced they have no other options.

But there's also (and this happens more to women), financial dependence and real physical violence, where the only way to escape would be changing one's name and relocating, because the partner will pursue and stalk them.

So there are a range of situations.

It is not so much allowing,,,it is not knowing thye dont have to let them control or this is the way they believe a relationship is,

In the dating process,,,,woman (some) tend to get sucked into a vortex with a controlling man,
Controlling men go towards woamn with lower self esteem...once the man discovers the weakness, they use it to manipulate and undermine all the while the woman is unknowingly being spiritually raped and put in an emotional position that is hard to escape

Because they haven't been taught the art of control. Everywhere I go I see the vast majority of women smart enough to use their feminine wiles to get what they want. They know how to use testosterone to their advantage. That's what they have been taught.
So the ones that allow the men to control them have lost out on some wisdom of the women.

What makes you so sure they are allowing men to control them?
This indeed is a very curious question, cause what looks like one thing on the surface may not be entirely what you see. Hmmmm? Think on it a bit.

Women are the weaker sex. Physically and mentally. This means they need guidance on certain things. Anyone who thinks a man or woman is completely independent all of the time is an idiot. I prefer traditional marriages. The man makes the decisions but always consults his wife. She has more authority in the household because she's the mother. However she shows respect to her husband above all else. A true "strong woman" is one who devotes her energies to her family. Golly I sound like a 1950s grandmother lecturing her grand-daughter. Oh well, LOL we definitely need more lecturing these days.

since woman have been weaker sex, they tend to slip away from taking important decisions. Right from yesteryears, man has been dominant and there has been a male chauvinism prevailing. It is hence imperative that woman allow men to have a control over them. The % of woman having a control of man is also on the higher side, when it comes to financial matters.

The same reason men allow women to control them.

Some people, both men & women have no backbone.

Some people had relationships with their parents that are repeated in their own relationships.

& some people prefer not to think for themselves.

all relationships involve a bit of give and take. sometimews you a bit dominant, sometimes a bit submissive. that goes for men and women.
you don't need to act like a ball breaker all the time to be a strong woman

I don't let men control me, I can control myself. Anyone who allows another to control them, has no control over themselves.

lol. I think I just saw the question "How come the woman always dominates the man after marriage?"
I think the real question we need to ask is "Why weak people of both genders always end up with controlling partners?".
