Does anyone feel as flabbergasted by the miscommunication between whites and blacks? Just the lack of understanding, the ignorance from both sides. Are there people who really genuinely want to do something about it?

I'm in a bit of a fantasy world when it comes to the way things are. I think we human beings are capable of so much..beauty, but sometimes we can be so inhuman, so mean, so cruel and heartless. It hurts to see that. This is the world I want to raise my biracial children in. How will we protect the future generation fromt he way things are?

Yes, it's very frustrating. I'm troubled by the lack of understanding, the lack of desire to truly communicate & understand, and the constant blame game (passing blame back and forth). And, yes, the ignorance is astounding and quite discouraging. I'll be extremely surprised if no one from either "side" answers your question just to spew something like, "Well, but the blacks think it's ok for everyone to be racist except white people," or "But whites think they should be able to say the n-word," or some such other nonsense that would serve as perfect examples of exactly what you're saying.

Regardless, I'm encouraged by people like you- people who bring problems to our attention and hope that we can work together for change.

In the UK, it's not like this. Black people and white people get on very well. We have the highest rate of mixed race relationships in the world and the highest number of mixed race children being born. This would not happen if there was a lack of understanding and ignorance. My husband is British Jamaican and there is no difference between us just because our colour is different.
Colour means nothing really. It's life experience that counts, and here in the UK black and white grow up side by side so we are all very culturally similar. There is no Ghettoisation like you have in your cities, and so we all learn the shared experience of life together.
You should move to the UK, it's so much better.

OUR miscommunication has its roots in fear and distrust. We don't trust each other, but we fear each other in different ways and we fear and distrust ourselves; you have to get past that in order for this generational miscommunication to cease.

ADDITIVE: What you can do is promote racial acceptance, not colorblindness. There is no such thing as colorblindness. Colorblindness is an attempt to cover up your real feelings about things. If you teach them racial acceptance, you'll be on the right track.

You know I think it's funny the language that people choose to use through the internet waves. I bet they wouldn't dare use terms like "*****" in public. The first comment is just proof of that ignorance. I feel like for every one of us who wants to do something, there are 10 people who either don't care or don't WANT to do anything about it and just want to bask in their ignorance.

People, irrespective of race or colour, are lacking mutual understanding & respect to each other. One can't do much about it.

I believe there are millions of people want to do something about this problem. and on the other hand you have millions that don`t want change. the innocent has to suffer. it`s not healthy to hate people you don`t know.
