It's supposed to and for many women it does. In 2004 when I was on a high dose birth control pill, it actually did make my periods lighter and I only had my period for 3 days (where as normally my period lasts for 6-7 days), however the higher dose birth control gave me terrible side effects such as migraines and nausea so I stopped taking it and didn't go back on birth control until earlier this year. This time I was put on a low dose birth control and even though I didn't suffer from those same migraines as much as on the higher dose, it still didn't help because I still had bad cramping and heavy bleeding and recently (2 & 1/2 weeks ago) found out that I have endometriosis which they burned off during my surgery.

I'm seeing my gyno in 2 weeks to discuss treatment options for my endometriosis so will find out then whether he still recommends that I use the same birth control pills or whether he recommends something else.

I would recommend you discuss your options with your doctor/gyno as they would be able to recommend a type of birth control and dose (low and high dose pills) for you based on your medical history etc.

Good luck :)

Yeah it is supposed to. But a friend of mine found it didn't, for some reason, and she still got pain. But then you can just switch and find another one.

It sure does, especially if you have heavy or painful periods. I have never felt better

Yes it does. You also know exactly which day it is going to start.
