Wayne Swan all the way! Peter Costello is a slimy, smarmy little man. Has everyone forgotten that he had no experience running the economy when the libs got in? Swan is far more qualified now than Costello was when he got into power! And how could we forget the 22% interest rate under Malcom Fraser when little Johnny was treasurer? People have listen to Howards rubbish for long enough. Kevin 07!

An economist will always beat a lawyer, Wayne Swan demolished Peter Costello, Costello just has no idea of the "real world" how people in the "real world" live, Wayne Swan presented this & more & really stuck to the questions asked of him. Costello on the other hand just seemed to go around the questions & not answer what was asked of him, Costello & Howard are just so much of touch with reality, Howard has stated that he would like to take" Australia back to the fifties when he was most comfortable", when he was most comfortable? if this is Howards & the future that Costello spoke of in todays debate then it's something that I hope never comes into being, Wayne Swan won hands down.

Dick its a wonder this question was not pulled off, but hey it was glad to see the worm has made appearance only this time the feed was not pulled of, Costello , what a joke,He can't even face the people on his own to go to an election for PM, he has to wait for the little , oops I meant Howard to hand it to him .
Well from what Howard said there before about handing the top job over Costello could not even answer the question of when, Howard is not going to hand anything over. Yes I am back , and with a lot of more questions .
Swann was a bit nervous but look at what he said and look to a better future for Australia, he made some ground but did you noticed that Costello made a reverence to the labour party for setting all the good times since 1972 to 1996 even went on to say thank you for it.
It just shows who is the better manager its always has been the Australian Labour Party, the Liberal Party always like to abolish evrything that workers have foght for.

Swann started a little nervously but soon settled down and scored some good points. Costello on the other hand resorted to his usual snide remarks and failed, like his boss, to give a straight answer to most questions. His efforts were also full of the usual propaganda put out by the Coalition. Do they think we don't know that Howard presided over the worst interest rates and that most of the economic reforms affecting the present good run were put in place by the ALP? And there he was claiming GST as a great reform when all it did was increase the tax on the poor, some of whom might not have paid tax prior to it's introduction, and reduced it to the rich so that they could buy bigger SUV's. He will bring a hideous future to this country if he ever becomes PM.

I believe that this was a good debate in the sense that in showed that Costello isn't the economical wiz kid he has people believing. It also showed that Swann is ever bit a good economical manager, with a clear understanding of the country.
I think the fact that it was even close is a win for Swann. You would think that someone who has been in the job for a decade would dominate, but he clearly didn't. That was a major suprise to me. I have always been a bit sceptical about Swann, but he matched and possibly even beat a 10yr veteren. Wow.
The fact Howard claimed a win for Costello is a joke. Was he ever going to say Swann won, god Howard is a moron! And he claims the worm is bias????
The fact people are even debating who won is a major win for Swann in itself. Good work Wayne, you have won me over!!

I think Swann. I cannot stand Costello he is the most arrogant man I've ever seen. It's definiately a case of the liberals grasping at straws here; and just running with their underhanded scare campaigns!!

How can we really trust anything Howard says. He has lied and decieved the Australian public on so many issues. Of course he is going to claim victory for the debate today. Howard himself hasn't really read a decent history book in his life. It's quite obvious he has a Liberal, greedy selfish self centred bent in many things that he says

Swan was confident and didn't hesitate when questioned. Costello surprised me, I thought with his experience would have done better, but he stumbled and seemed uneasy with a lot of the questions.
I think Swan won this debate hands down.

I believe Peter Costello did win the debate. The worm moved north as soon as Wayne Spoke - so unbelievable. Channel 9 should be embarrassed.
