America doesn't build franchises, but Americans do. Did you mean, "Should the owner of the American made company of McDonald's or the American owner of the company Wal-mart begin building their companies in Somalia?" ??? If that's the question, then I say let the owners make their own decisions about what would be financially profitable for their own companies (that is the ultimate goal of a company!). If Somalians don't want them, they won't welcome these companies with open arms. If they do, then more power to them!
If I could choose, though, I would be supportive of building these companies in Somalia because both have made reputable contributions to Humanity. Think of "The Ronald McDonald House" who helps families with ill children. Think of Wal-Mart's support for "The Missing Children's Network." Despite some bad business reputations these companies do attempt to give back to communities through humanitarian services and I think that is a respectable thing for any entity to do.

McDonalds or Wal-Mart are built by private companies, America does not do it, the company that owns the right to the brand does.
In the case of Mickey Dee's, it's someone who purchases a franchise from McDonalds, the company that owns the trademark. Most likely there will not be a McDonalds there unless someone is willing to put up the money to buy a franchise from them, I doubt the company will put one up itself.
Wal-Mart is only going to build a store if they can see there is a profit. If Somalia, an African country, is, as I suspect, involved in various civil wars and strife, it's probably unlikely for them to do so.

First, its not America's decision. McDonalds is a private company that makes its own decisions.
And no, McDonalds shouldn't open any more restaurants. Watch Spurlock in "Supersize Me" Disgusting. Of course they will open a couple thousand more restaurants because they are a powerful corporation. But, I would be happy if all the McDs closed tomorrow. Its disgusting and its making people sick.

No they should actually build a McD's in Iraq. To gain popularity they would have to offer camel-burgers though. I think a Walmart might spoil them to the point that they would want to come here in droves just for a better deal. We have enough illegal immigrants as it is!

If you are talking about selling it it may not work. America can fund to feed Somalians their staple food for survival first. Can open Mcdonalds and Wallmart when Somalia's economy starts growing.

Mc Donalds and Walmart do not belong to America, they are corporations that do what they want. They do not have any interest in establishing branches in places where no one has any money to buy their products.
