I'd go with Dalton, simply because Augustus wouldn't be fully understood in this modern age, and Dalton doesn't sound bad. Augustus was the first Emperor of Rome and considered one of the most influential men in history, but now-a-days in Anglo-American society it isn't a common name. Augustine is an alternative to Augustus which is used more often in modern times, the most famous Augustine being St. Augustine who was an influential early Christian that wrote City of God.

I lean towards Dalton because I think of Augustus from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Dalton also sounds more like a last name than a first name. Any other ideas?

I feel Dalton is a very strong and masculine name!
I don't like Augustus much sorry it's just not a name I would name my child because I feel they would get teased alot at school for having a name like that.

But please remember that at the end of the day he is YOUR son and as long as you like the name then that's fine.

People look at me funny because my son's name is Jayden, and there are 100's of Jayden's around now, but when I named him the name was virtually unheard of.
