it is a horrific crime, you know for a fact who did it, do you go to the police, do you keep the reward?

I would go to the police and I would collect the reward......
But I would donate it to a victim(s) aid charity.

I might as well keep it.... At least I'm helping solve the crime. If I didn't need the money I would give it away but I've got $20K worth of school loans to pay off, so I'm just being realistic.

if it's a horrific crime of course i go to the police if i know who did it. the $50000 wouldn't hurt. but htat wouldn't be why i went to the police. i'd keep it though.

If someone is prepared to pay it, why not? You don't have to keep it or spend it on yourself. You might be able to do some good with it. The choice is yours but you won't have that choice if you don't claim it.
