Okay, here's a good one for you. Make a costume for your dog that looks like something you would wear that everyone would recognize. Then make a costume for you that looks just like your dog. Everyone will be falling on the floor laughing.
Or you can go as a bank robber, and your dog as a banker.
The dog can be a lion, you the lion tamer.
You a wallet, dog the credit card (American Dogspress.)
You a surfboard, dog in an itsy, bitsy, teeny weenie, yellow polka dot bikini.
You as a canvas, dog as a handful of brushes in a can.
you as a white board, dog as the marker.
you as a bottle of pills, dog as the prescription.
both of you as popular manga characters.
you as your favorite football player, dog as the ball.
both of you as cops.
you as a carton of milk, dog as a cup of milk.

Ok, this might sound kind of strange but bear with it. Maybe you can dress the dog up as a human (you know in little sweaters and shorts) and you can wear a dog outfit... Cute idea isnt it?
but you can also dress as the crocodile hunter and have your dog wear this:
