No. Absolutely not.
I have designed, and worked on monitors for about 15 years. and I have no qualms at all sitting in front of any monitor that has not been deliberately sabotaged.
There are four types of radiation that come from monitors.
1) Visible light. This is what we want them to produce! The light from a monitor however is way less than what you get from the sun. Also it is limited to the visible spectrum and maybe a little infra-red (heat) The sun provides way more heat, way more visible light and UV, etc.
2) EMI. Both LCDs and CRTs produce radio frequency radiation. While this might interfere with a radio located next to the monitor for its effect on you it is probably about on a par with the radio an TV station broadcasts that permeate our environment. If there is a cell phone within 5 ft of you that is producing way more radio frequency radiation.
3) CRTs produce near field magnetic and electric radiation. This was first a concern in the late 1980s, early 90s. There were some studies that indicated that there might be an effect on a developing fetus if the mother spent long hours in front of a CRT. Further studies have come said that there is no effect, or that there is a slight effect. However, market forces dictated something be done, so the MPR II standard was born. Any MPR II monitor has a major reduction in this radiation. Almost all CRT monitors ar MPR II compliant these days. If you want t go a little further then a monitor that conforms to any level of the TCO standards (TCO'95 through TCO'03 and beyond). You will get more near-field radiation from being sat next to a light bulb than a TCO monitor
4) Gamma radiation. This is a serious consideration for CRTs. If you manage to increase the high voltage on the CRT then the electrons start coming down the tube fast enough that they produce gamma radiation when they hit the phosphors.
Because of this every CRT monitor design has to have a circuit that detects a abnormally high voltage and shuts down the monitor before anything happens. It used to be that the DHHS made manufacturers test this circuit on one monitor per manufacturing line per shift. However, due to the simplicity of these circuits and their very high reliability now, once the design has been tested and approved, no manufacturing test is required.
Worry more about getting hit by a bus than the radiation from your monitor. In fact, worry more about getting hit by a green and blue striped bus, being driven by a guy named Arthur on his birthday, than the radiation from your monitor.

It's hardly even measurable. TVs had problems with xrays in the early 50s. And even then, you had to sit right in front of the TV to get enough to be a problem. Since then CRTs have been upgraded incredibly, and computer CRTs don't use nearly as much power as a 1950s TV.
If it really bothers you, though, get an LCD monitor!

The monitors of today have less radiation than they did 10 years ago. Don't forget tat TVs have been around a lot longer.

Radiation from a screen can't be no worse than walking outside on a sunny day.

well think about it this way, all electronic devices give off some kind of radiation and since we don't all have cancer i'm not worried.
