I wanted to write something about sports but i can't find a topic that isn't too broad.

It seems like performance enhancing drugs are really used by professional cyclists. Is this true & if so, why? Are performance enhancing drugs most beneficial for cyclists?

The origins of a sport such as American football, basketball or baseball.

American sports fans were loosing interest in basketball in the late 1980's & the NBA undertook a clear marketing strategy to re-capture fans' interest. You can research & write about the NBA & how the image of basketball was revitalized.

How much does it cost a city to have a professional sports team? How much revenue does a team generate for a city? You can chose your favorite team.

How popular is soccer in the US? What marketing efforts are being made to build it up & attract fans?

All good answers so far, I think. I would suggest that you pick your favorite sport, and pick a topic around the sport that you and your buddies always b**ch about or debate. Depending on the type of research paper it needs to be, you could also pick a legend (or an underdog) in the sports world and do a biographical research paper on him or her. Good luck!

of course it is always broad to write a research paper about something but of course you are the one who has the authority to narrow-down your topic. say for example, the impact of sports to the youth like that...

Pick your favorite sport and do a history research on which team has won the Division or Nationwide Trophy the most times and what factors you think contributed to their victory.

subtopics: parts of body hurt
how hurt & time to heal
comparative injury level to other sports
2) Some (name sport) heroes
example baseball Babe Ruth, etc.
3) The international spread of a sport
tell where it originated & how it spread & changed & where it went
4) How to become a Coach
(or manager, professional, teacher) of a sport
Tell job specifications, qualities the person needs to have, what they do in their job, examples of people who are the best at it

How about something like "Will outlawing aluminum baseball bats really decrease injuries in high school age players". Or are decisiona makers just trying to do SOMETHING to cover their butts so they don't get sued for doing nothing.
