How to Write a Character Analysis?

Choose One Major Character to analyze-Write about the protagonist, his/her characteristics, his involvement in a conflict, his relationships with other characters, his changes or lack of changes, his ups and downs, what makes him the most important character of the work, etc.

In your analysis, develop each paragraph in the following way. There should be 6 paragraphs for the analysis:

1. Introduce the character by name and tell what role he/she plays in the story. Describe the character (physical look, personality traits).
2. What important interactions take place between this character and others in the story?
3. What words spoken in the story help us to understand this character? Explain
4. What is each character's underlying motivations (the basic reason that he or she acts in a certain way) or goal?.
5. In what way, if any, does the character change by the end of the story?
6. How do you feel about this character, and why?

Or

Introduction- define your character with three words or phrases( courageous, sacrificial and ambitious) that make up who she/he is.

Body-In each paragraph, give an example to explain why the character is like what you have described (i.e. courageous) and use at lease one quoted speech by the character to show his/her personality.

Conclusion-Describe how the character's personality leads to where he ends up in life.

how a character contributes to a story, how they change throughout the story, how they're related to other characters in a story, how this relationship shapes those other characters.

And if It's an essay you can also explain how the author portrays a character in a story such as in greek mythology, one sees the use of epithets, which are generalized descriptions of a character using certain words that are repeated whenever this character is mentioned. Some examples are "bright-eyed Athena" or "thunderbolt Zeus"
