Who recommended Dawn dish soap exactly, someone on here? Not a vet surely?! This stuff is a complete waste of time. It only washes off current fleas, the animal will become reinfested once dry. Also, if you wash an animal before applying Frontline (within 48 hours) the Frontline cannot work.

Nothing from a pet store is going to work. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work. This goes for home treatments too - flea 'bombs', foggers and powders are all useless - as you've now discovered!

Here are the points you need to observe to be flea free:
1) Use only a spot-on treatment from a VET for your animal e.g Frontline, Revolution, Advantage or Advocate.
2) Make sure it gets on the SKIN of your animals, not their fur.
3) Treat the house with a proper house spray i.e something from a vets.
4) You may have to spray your house twice, 10 days apart, to get any newly hatched eggs.
5) Be aware that anything you buy off the internet may not be a genuine product

Don't start using Borax, salt, garlic, flea collars, 'light traps' or any of the other old wives tales that usually get suggested on here.

Advantage will do it for you. Put it on the animal, and the animal will take care of the fleas in the house. It takes a week or two depending on how badly it is infested, and dept store/pet store products will not work. Advantage is for fleas only, and will knock out the problem completely. If you keep it on them every month, you won't have a problem again. Frontline is ok, and for a while was the recommended product because it was the only one that killed fleas and ticks. It can keep up with fleas unless there is a bad infestation, and then it just can't keep up. Don't give up on back of the neck treatments,,,,try the advantage.

Consult your vat.. It is possible to get rid of the fleas from the animal's hair. Until you do that you have to live with the fleas. Sprays are to kill the fleas crawling about the house and living in the crevices and furniture. Make your cats and dogs flea free too. All the best.

Spray your house....

I have 6 cats..three strays...can't deny them food and affection...and an inside Dog until recently..( died from old age ) . Try 'enforcer' above. Hope it works for you. If you are using Frontline on your animals, which can be quite expensive, you should not have a problem with fleas on your pets...that stuff works. Like I mentioned...I have six cats and NO FLEA problem in my house by using the things I mentioned above.

to initally get rid of them go to your vet and get a pill called "cap-star" it kills all fleas within 12hrs this is not a mthly thing it is a one time deal then have your carpets cleaned, k9 advantix your animals and then set flea traps...i know this sounds silly but take shallow glass dishes fill them with water and dish soap, attach a small nightlight and leave them on at night when all the lights are out, the fleas will be attracted to the light, jump at it and be stuck in the soapy water...hope this helps

I got rid of them by using Sevin, an insecticide in powder form. Chuck it all over the house and vacuum it up. Then dust the pets with it. You will have to do it several times because of the eggs. Get Sevin at a feed store or farm store. Do not listen to people who tell you not to do it. They don't live with the fleas.

Have you tried the product that interupts the reproductive cycle? Ask your vet about this. Also, someone suggested sprinkling salt on the carpeting befor vacuuming?

one thing is you also need to treat your yard. They can come inside on your shoes as they are in grass outside. I was also told one year by a vet that as long as it stays warm out side you will have them.
