Reagan was a dem in his early years, and while he was president of the screen actor's guild in Hollywood. When he saw the way "liberal" Hollywood had a pro-socialist agenda, he became a republican.

In the same way, Churchill belonged to the Labour Party for a time, before becoming a solid conservative. As he famously said, "a man who is not liberal when young has no heart. a man who is still liberal when he is mature has no mind."

He was definitely a republican. However, he started out as a Dem in California but when the Dems changed their platform he realized he could no longer stay a dem and switched the republican party.

Reagan was a life long Dem until he meet and married Nancy, then he joined the GOP. My own feeling is , if Nancy wanted him to have a idea, she would give him one. Nancy got most of her political views from her step father and then adopted father who was a Doctor, right winger, and a member of the John Birch Society. Reagen famous line was, "I didn't leave the Democratic party it' left me". Of course went he went from B actor to spoken person, and made the big bucks, he didn't or maybe Nancy didn't like the government taking it's cut.

They sure did Dale B: Thats why they realized that mistake in 1984 and 49 of the 50 states voted for the man. Yep. Its ok though we know most dems are kept clueless by their party. funny what the real will of the people can do though. I also believe he was the one quoted as saying "Trust the people." hmmm.

Republican

Presbyterian

Aquarius.

Freemason.

Almost assassinated.

Frankly, i sincerely admire the man in his achievements as well as his mistakes. Something learned from both.
