Of course it did, on a bipartisan basis. The Dems had every chance to speak up every step of the way, but they cowered in the corner until the polls said it was time to shift positions. They have the power in Congress now and what have they done with it? Nothing but besmirch the reputation of Alberto Gonzales, smear General Patraeus, try to gain political advantage on the backs of children with the health bill, kowtow to their base with meaningless votes on Iraq, and otherwise fool people like you into thinking they are doing something.

BTW no one has been "tortured," Blackwater has not been indicted or convicted and must be presumed innocent (why would greedy mercenaries fire on civilians?), and the billions spent on the surge are obviously working (as did the effort of neutralizing Saddam and promoting democracy in the Middle East). Stop reading the blogs and start reading the news.

Do we see much change occurring with our Democrats almost in office for a year? Sure, we've held trials and yes, Alberto Gonzales stepped down, but it took months for this to happen- our Congress was so meek at first I almost lost all hope in us pulling out of the downward spiral. However, I credit the Democratic congress with at least holding trials on torture. But look at McKasey-- he's not going to be helping the situation and its putting the right people in charge that will make things right

Not much. But then again can anyone say the Democrat led congress has done what some claim they were elected to do? I'm not much for going whole hog with any political party agenda. When any of them reach sainthood let me know.

The sad thing about folks like godgunsandglory is that they are trying to compare America to Islamic hoodlums. Islamic terrorists cut people's heads off. That is horrible and inhumane.

But we are AMERICA. We stand for something entirely different. We claim to be honorable, to abide by the rule of law, to be part of the Geneva Conventions. These are not claims made by Islamic fundamentalist criminals. For us to engage in any form of torture whatsoever not only flies in the face of over 200 years of precedent, it also deprives us of the moral high ground.

Yeah, the Dems sure are uncovering all the torture and criminal policies Bush-bashers keep insisting are covered up.

Either they're incompetent, or Bush is really smart.

Or Bush has done nothing wrong and you just can't stand it.

Its always a bad idea to give any president free reign, this is why I am pulling for a Republican president, with democratic congress. Its never good to have one party in charge of two branches... it kills the concept of checks and balances.

Just about every Liberal toured Gitmo and found nothing wrong.
Black water has not been convicted of anything
i have no idea what bvanishing is

Why do liberals just assume things have happened when every piece of evidence contradicts it

That is the logical conclusion. The party simply bumped chests and bathed in their power and delusion while the country, and Iraq went to crap.

Nope. Rubber-stamp mode they were in...

While I disagree with gitmo, the rest is just fine...to be expected.
