Why won't my norton internet security work!? I just renewed it in the summer!!?

Question

First, HP messed up my computer BY TRYING TO FIX IT, so I just decided to recover it, meaning getting back to factory default state but not losing my data completely. I had to reinstall spysweeper too. Now, my computer is running slower and I keep getting popups saying it's infected and that I need to buy some program to get rid of things.
I know lots of people have trouble with their norton and they say that you must pay to get customer service by the phone!!

I just renewed my subscription this last summer, but now it says that I have 30 -something days left of it.
On the security tab, it says DISABLED and when I click turn on, the computer merely restarts.
Please!! What should I do?? I am a student and this is disrupting my work. Should I just get a different virus protector??

First thing is to get rid of Norton. It is just a piece of junk software that has no purpose. After that install either AVG or Avast as those 2 are both very good at what the do. Plus the fact the do not slow you computer down makes them excellent choices for anti-virus software.

Call Norton and explain the situation to them, they might help you. If they won't honor this, then did you use a credit card when you paid? If so reverse the credit card charges if it hasn't been over 60 days. Call the credit card company and tell them you want to dispute the charges and they will send you a form to fill out and send back.
