Do not get another DEPO shot!!! Especially if cancer runs in your family. My wife had horrible side effects from this including (we believe) triggering cancer. Most inherited cancer traits are triggered at menapause. This shot actually fakes the body into believing the woman has reached this stage. This will trigger the cancer. Other side effects are fibromyalgia, loss of sex drive, chronic fatigue, headaches, body pains, and the list gets longer and longer. The hot flashes and mood swings is because you have put your body in false menapause. You need to find another type of birth control. If you don't wish to have children any more, then I suggest getting the tubes tied. But get away from the DEPO now!!!

Ok, I received 2 years worth of Depo shots. I gained a TON of weight.. like 40 pounds in total. And yes I had all the same side affects. I stopped taking Depo as of 2 years in January. It took almost a year (10 months) for my periods to return and I still have many many mood swings. My weight has not changed yet, I have been eating well and working my *** off but still no loss! My doc says it may be as long as 5 years for everything to become normal!!! Its horrible, we are also TTC now and have had no luck yet.. next step is Clomid... Good luck.. I would never recommend the shot to ANYONE.

IMO no it does not get any better. There are worse things that depo can do to you besides weight gain.

Check out the reviews there and Google "Depo provera lawsuit".

I was on it for some time and I'm so glad I'm OFF of it. I can't believe they still allow this drug to be administered.

thats what i recommend. I too was on the Depo shot..miserable isn't it? I passed out during one shot. i now take chryselle. a birth control pill. haven't gained anymore weight and have no side effects. yes you have to remember to take a pill everyday(my biggest problem lol) but just set an alarm like on your cell phone or something to go off every day at the same time. choose a time that is going to be convenient every day as far as you know. good luck!
