Not likely. This is the same guy who did coke, went AWOL, and stole private land through eminent domain before he was even governor. I see three possibilities:

1) He stays stoned or tanked during his off time, so he doesn't have to deal with it. That's why he has problems with words and alternates between a swagger and the "deer in the headlights" look.

2) The only thing that matters to him is the title and the fame, perhaps showing up his brothers and father. The rest of it is just reading the script the neocons provide to him. He has no conscious and has no desire to know the real consequences of his actions.

3) The guy has been so deluded into thinking that he is being guided by a higher power that no rational argument will sway him from the course. Self-reinforcing delusion. (Not to say there isn't a higher power, but anyone can come up with their own twisted image of one and use it to justify their actions, not matter how hypocritical.)
