Clearly, it has to be the 27 Yankees. They won 114 games during the season and swept the Pirates in the series. This was a team that had the top 3 power hitters in the league (Babe Ruth at 60, Lou Gehrig at 47, and Tony Lazzeri at 18). They were never shut out. They had 3 of the 4 best ERAs in the league. They scored 975 runs and allowed only 599.
Then, they beat a Pirates team that had won the series 2 years earlier in a sweep.

Good question, I like that 74 A's team: Fingers, Jackson, Bando, Rudi, Campaneris, Blue, Hunter, Holtzman. Great staff and nice all around offense.
I would throw a couple teams here: The '84 Tigers, started out the season 35-5! Great power, pretty good starting pitching and a heck of a closer. Morris, Whitaker, Trammel, Gibson, Hernandez, Parrish.
I would have said the '90 A's but they lost to the Reds in the series four straight. So I think not.
I would say though, the '27 Yankees. Murderer's Row, Ruth, Gehrig, Musal, Lazzeri. Those guys were unbelievable. Their pitching was good, but nothing great.
Even one of those Blue Jay teams (1992, I think). Great names, and they just had everything, speed, power, strong bullpen, and all-star type starting pitching.
I'll take the 1927 Yankees.

I'd say Rockies because became better compared to when they played the Red Soxs a few years ago in the World Series. The only thing the Giants have over the Rockies is their rotation. I think the Rockies have a better offense and defensive game then the Giants.

1927 Yankees was the best team in baseball history. If they played today they would be 162-0 , in the regular season, and 11-0 in post season. Even the 1998 Yankees wouldn't have been able to win a game against the 1927 Yankees.

I think the best t-e-a-m wasthe 2004 Red Sox. Coming back from 3-0 in any series shows how much team you got.

1998 Yankees.
A genuine wrecking machine. No significant weaknesses, strong and deep everywhere.

I care little for the thumbsies, up or down, but I am genuinely confused. Two down for giving sincere props to the strongest team of the past 30 years? Given how many Yankees fans pervade this forum, who at the minimum keep this place entertaining, I'm a bit perplexed at that.
