LOVE it! That's the name of Abigail Breslin's character in Signs, and she was so cute!

A lot of children are being named non-gender-defining things of late. That shouldn't really be an issue with all but a few people.
Your largest issue, I believe, will come with the spelling. When I first looked at "Boue" I thought it was pronounced Boee(long e sound). I love the sound of the name Bo...but you might do well to find a more feminine name that you can put on the birth certificate and that can be shortened to Bo.
Bowen
Boston
Bobby
I'm sure there are more names like that, if you care to look.
Above all, pick something for your child that you could stand to be named and that won't be too embarrassing or difficult in school.

I like that name too. The spelling, however, is very confusing. If you hadn't told me it was pronounced "Bo" I would have thought it was "Boo". Try a different spelling combination. In French, Boue is spelled beau or beaux. Since you want it to be for a girl, you would spell it belle or belles, which changes the actual name. How about one of those? I know that it probably doesn't help, but I tried.

Sorry I actually thought it was a boys name as well when I first read it. What about Isabel as a first name and Boue as a middle name? It would stop the mixups anyway. Either way congrats and the decision is up to you and your husband!

I thought it was a boys name as well. But with people naming their baby things like "Apple" I guess it's whatever floats your boat. Personally I would try and talk my husband into a different first name and naming her middle name Boue. Then the name is still there and you don't have to put her through the torment in school.
My cousin named her daugter Sparkle because her boyfriend wanted her to... guess what the middle name is... Lee. His middle name is Lee and so now they have a daughter named Sparkle Lee. I couldn't believe it, lol

First of all, Bo and its other forms are masculine, not feminine. Second, I have never seen the spelling 'Boue.' That looks made up to me. Like it's pronounced boe-wee. Yuck! I have seen Bo and Beau (French), but never Boue.
Please rethink this name, especially for a girl. It's very unattractive.

I don't think this name can be saved, sorry!
Boue/Bo/Bow still sounds an awful lot like the boy's name Beau.
But you *could* name her Bonita, Barbara or Roberta and use Bo for a nickname.

I'm so sorry, but I actually thought it was for a boy. . . Isabel is alright, but I'm not so sure about Boue, either. It's not my type of . . . style. Sorry again.

I love it! But think of each new year of school where the teacher can not pronounce her name and all the little kids laugh or ask if she was named after the little girl on Monster's Inc. Why not use it as a middle name and call her that at home. My parents call me TJ and have never called me by my real name.
