1) Why is this an important question? Aren't there bigger issues than this (e.g. Iraq)? Don't we expect more from our leaders than that they wear the right pin on their coat?
2) Reporters did ask him about it. He answered it. Most people got over it.
3) If you're going to stand in the voting booth next fall, mulling over your choices and ACTUALLY think, "Well...I don't know...he didn't wear a flag pin...", then I beg you to either not vote or find a substantive issue to vote on, because this ain't it.
4) I think Obama makes an excellent point: so many politicians wear a flag pin and then act to undermine what the flag is supposed to stand for. In other words, the flag pin has become a trite political tool that is supposed to absolve its wearer of any allegations of unpatriotic behavior. What's worse: to refuse to partake in a symbolic gesture (when everyone else does it hypocritically) or to wear it hypocritically?

Obama explains his reason for wearing and not wearing a flag pin. I too like Obama find that we in America are to prone to show symbolism. Nothing wrong with it as long as the core values and ideas behind US patriotism are not lost. David Duke, KKK grand wizard, wears a flag pin. So what does this say?

If you don't want to vote for Mr Obama fine, but don't let it be for those petty reasons. I'm sure that Bush and Nixon do and did the patriot bit. But look what they have done to our country. Those gestures mean nothing; its what a President actually does with his patriotism that counts. "The devil can quote scripture" is very true, and we'd better not forget it again.

Religious intolerance of some and eradicating the foundations that made America America! Pedophiles on the loose and legislating for them and Illegal Aliens.

I have to say when I saw the first part of your question, I thought....Who the heck cares. But when you put it in the context of him running for president, that's a very good question. I don't trust the man for various other reasons, that just adds to the pile.
