Where does the term "mamby pamby" come from?

Namby Pamby comes from the 1725 Henry Carey satire of the same name. It was a criticism of British poet Ambrose Phillips.

Although I don't know, or care to know, the origin, it is Namby Pamby. That should facilitate research.
