The baby starts moving in utero in the first few weeks after pregnancy (around 8-9 weeks).
If you are wondering when you might feel the baby:
If you are expecting your first baby you can expect to feel your baby for the first time between 18 and 24 weeks gestation. (This is called "quickening"). If this is not your first pregnancy, you might feel it earlier.

I'm not sure when the BABY (I hate the word fetus, it is a human being, it is simply not completely formed yet) will actually start moving, probably shortly after it grows arms and legs? But movement will not be felt by the mother until probably around 16-20 weeks maybe even 22 weeks. Other people will not really be able to feel the baby move until the mother is about 6 months and it will only be a little flutter for them. It got really fun when I was about 8 months. My husband and I would watch our son moving all over and people could really feel him right about then. (My husband told me it looked like a really scary alien movie, but that it was awesome to watch.)
It is a truly amazing and beautiful experience. And it put me in awe of the baby inside my body. And it only gets better!!
