open a terminal to enter commands. for the files that you wish to view, type 'file '. this command will tell you the type of file and give you an idea as to which application will open the file.

run the file in the terminal and see what output does it give.

Are you executing a binary or Shell script? Do you want to edit/view a text output file?

Use vi or nano. vi should be preinstalled.

say file is in /tmp

vi /tmp/file

If you're talking about debugging an app compiled in g++ or gcc, you need to use the -ddd command when building to enable debugging.

I don't exactly read you, are you saying you are running a program in cmdline and its output is long, hence you need to know the basics of "piping" and otherwise redirecting stdout so you can read it later slowly at your leisure?
