We are having trouble deciding on a name for our daughter due Dec: 15. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.

Natalie Rose
Molly Elizabeth

We like Natalie because it means Christ's birth and she will be born at Christmas time.

We like Molly because it is a pet form of Mary and we are very religious. Also- When we were dating we said that we'd love to name a daughter Molly because of a sweet waitress named Molly at Red Lobster.

We would like a name that goes well with our first daughter's name: Grace Emily

Grace has olive skin, dark eyes, and dark hair (very Italian looking). I expect this baby to look similar (my husband's genes are dominant). Which name would better fit a child with these characteristics.

Could we go with Molly (Irish origin) even though our last name is Italian? The baby will be part Irish from my side.

I love both names please help.

First - congratulations! Second - I *love* both names. Truly love them both. They both have meaning to you and are lovely names in their own right.

Your first daughter's name will work well with either of these names. I think that I love Natalie a little more than Molly, but Molly is so special to you both that it almost should win out. Plus, since she will have her daddy's Italian last name, an Irish first name as a nod to your lineage might be quite nice!

As a last ditch idea, you might consider waiting until she is born to decide for sure between the two. The decision might just come to you in the delivery room when you see her.

Wish you the best -- they are both lovely and you can't go wrong with one or the other!

God bless!

My suggestion would actually be to use Maura ... used as both an Irish form of Mary AND a separate Italian name (feminine form of Maurus), with Molly as an obvious nickname. ;)

It would obviously honor both the Irish and Italian heritages, perfectly suit the Italian surname and lend itself easily to the pet form Molly. Also, it seems more fitting with your older daughter's name, since you did, after all, use the formal Grace rather than nickname form Gracie as the given name. ;) Grace and Maura "Italian surname" would totally fit. ;) Hope that helps!

Natalie Rose is prettier to me, but either is fine. Of course you can go with Molly even if your last name's Italian!

Molly all the way!!!!
Great name! Natalie reminds me of that character on Facts of Life. The chubby girl with the bad hair.
Go for Molly! It's pretty and girlie, and yes she can have that name with an italian surname!

I love Molly Elizabeth, it's a beautiful name but go with what feels right. Wait until you see her face, then you'll know what her name is. It will just click.

Natalie Rose

would you rather tell your daughter she got her name because you actually thought of it or that she was named after a waitress you met once in your life? JMO

I like Molly because it is less common these days.

Since you mentioned Mary, Malia is the Hawaiian form of Mary if that appeals to you at all.

But Molly is a cute name.
