Well, I'd probably have to think China is doing it because they are Communists. But not necessarily to kill Americans.
By this I mean, America use to use lots of bad things that were ok in the 60's and 70's like asbestos insulation, lead paint (which the military used way beyond the legal use by civilians because the military had such a stockpile of it)., the list goes on and on. We just didn't do the studies or have interests in cataloging the side effects back then.
China, being a communist nation is still bad, but use to be worse. Look at their rocket program. In competing with the USA, they would wipe out whole villages when one would go stray. They are basically Government controlled and ruled through the military and military actions. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't still using leaded paint and asbestos for insulation. It isn't like the military or the Government is going to care about civilian health or care issues.
Look at what's happening in Africa. They know DDT is able to keep down mosquitoe populations, but if they use it, the population grows and the governments have problems with food and water, so they have resisted the use of DDT to keep the population down through malaria.
And they aren't even a communist nation. China has done many autrocities in the past, including shameful treatment of the monks in recent history or all the way back to and before Tienamen square where tanks rolled over peace protestors.
I think they don't want the world telling them how to run their totalitarian state. They even have a state religion, and have inprisoned and beat people found to have other values. Bibles have to be hidden and smuggled. Its sometimes amazing that the USA has such stong bonds with them.....or attempting to do so.

It's not a conspiracy!!! For CRYING OUT LOUD!!! WHY is EVERYTING i this world a CONSPIRACY of some sort or another????
There are GREEDY Chinese business people and officials. Lead, and lead products are usually cheaper to use. It's no more conspiratorial than that... GREED!!! Why do you think that Chinese gov't official was EXECUTED in May? Cuz he was found guilty of accepting over $800,000 in bribes to "look the other way" by greedy Chinese businesses.
OKAY!!!??? So lay off the conspiracy crap!!
Have a right-wing day.

Why are Americans so paranoid?
Just like there was lead in American toys when other materials were too expensive when America was industrialising. China had a great culture long before Christopher Columbus got to America.
They clearly have the determination and will to be a global power and it is only a matter of time, given their population and the rate they are industrialising , that they will surpass America. Americans should be proud that you have such encouraged such successful converts to capitalism.

Actually, they aren't. The chinese aren't in control of EVERY SINGLE TOY MANUFACTURING COMPANY in the entire country. They may not have known anything about the lead. I highly doubt they are trying to cause the Americans to be safe, and you have to remember, they are trying to become democratic. However, there are many companies within china that would go to great lengths to try to earn money, and if putting cheap products into toys such as lead, they can make money faster.

Lead is a poisonous metal that can damage nervous connections (especially in young children) and cause blood and brain disorders. Long term exposure to lead or its salts (especially soluble salts or the strong oxidant PbO2) can cause nephropathy, and colic-like abdominal pains. The concern about lead's role in cognitive deficits in children has brought about widespread reduction in its use (lead exposure has been linked to schizophrenia). The majority of cases of adult elevate blood lead levels are workplace-related
Many older houses may still contain substantial amounts of lead paint. White lead paint has been withdrawn from sale in industrialized countries, but the yellow lead chromate is still in use; for example, Holland Colours Holcolan Yellow. It is generally recommended that old paint should not be stripped by sanding, as this generates inhalable dust.
Lead salts used in pottery glazes have on occasion caused poisoning, when acid drinks, such as fruit juices, have leached lead ions out of the glaze. It has been suggested that what was known as "Devon colic" arose from the use of lead-lined presses to extract apple juice in the manufacture of cider. Lead is considered to be particularly harmful for women's ability to reproduce. For that reason many universities do not hand out lead-containing samples to women for instructional laboratory analyses. Lead acetate (also known as sugar of lead) was used by the Roman Empire as a sweetener for wine, and some consider this to be the cause of the dementia which affected many of the Roman Emperors.
Lead as a soil contaminant is a widespread issue, since lead is present in natural deposits and may also enter soil through (leaded) gasoline leaks from underground storage tanks or through a wastestream of lead paint or lead grindings from certain industrial operations.
Prolly the chinese are really trying to kill us.... And help us at the same time. But you'll never know till something really bad happens...

No, it is just some manufacturers using cheap lead based paint. Remember that lead based paint has not been banned in many countries and is still used in many parts of the world.
It is partly our fault for always wanting cheaper and cheaper products.
They don't hate the US and are not really communists anymore.

Nope, that's capitalism for you. The only reason that lead is turning up in toys is that lead-based paint is cheaper. They make more money etc etc. It's pure unadulterated capitalism. In fact, the sole point in capitalism is to make money, it is the belief in capital (money) and doing anything to get it. Whatever makes the most money is best. So try to get your facts straight.

That's a terrible approach when it comes to dealing with international business, communications, and politics.
So you're saying that China is secrety trying to kill the U.S. by sending us bad products that eventually are being recalled?
A bigger form of evidence would be appreciated before spewing chaos and confusion that is entirely bogus at the moment.
