gurrrrrl!! i am just going to tell you the way i did it.... i got some castor oil, mixed it with hot chocolate to curb the nasty taste, and drunk it. you have to drink the whole little bottle okay. i walked around for about two hours. it is best if you are already dilated at least two cms. when i came back from walking i was having bad cramps i thought they were just regular cramps.... my mom knew otherwise. i took some Tylenol and layed down... after laying there for about five minutes my water broke. it was on after that. my daughter was born in 45 minutes from start to finish. i had her a block away from the hospital. she was healthy and big 7lbs 6ozs and 20 inches long. it was an experience i can tell her forever... i will never forget. good luck whatever you decide. oh yeah and sex helps because the mans semen has patosen in it and that is what they use to induce your labor anyway. having your labor induced is time consuming... i had mine induced 3 times. the first time it took 4 days (no lie) the second took 3 1/2 hours, and the third it took 2 hours 15 mins.

if you are already starting to dilate or thin out then I reckon your best bet is sex!! Afterwards for at least 30mins, lay with a big pillow under your hips/bum to help bathe your cervix in semen as the same hormone is in semen and the gel they use to start labour artificially.

Also keep very active and walk around a lot even when labour does start, as an active labour will definately help things move along more naturally and quicker.

best of luck and fingers crossed it happens for you soon. I delivered my 2nd child 24hrs after having sex with hubby. An hour after sex my plug fell out and 12hrs later my contractions started properly! Worked a charm!
(my first was induced so I know how much you don't want that!)

Good luck

here is some extra info for you too...

Congratulations - your due date is this week! But don't worry if there's still no sign of your baby. Only 5% of the babies is born on his or her due date. Your baby continues to grow at about half a pound per week. His lungs are matured, his nails are grown, his vernix may be - almost - gone and he lies patiently waiting in his cramped little house. Only when your little one decides that he's ready will the labor start. Your baby will do that himself through the release of the stress hormone cortisol. This hormone enters your blood by means of the placenta. Under the influence of this hormone and the hormones oxytocin and prostaglandin (semen hormones also), the contractions will ensue. The first four centimeters of dilation can last longest. The cervix must first soften and thin out and then start to open up or dilate. Your baby may sleep through it all quietly and withhold his cooperation until you start pushing.

Your body won't go into labor unless it is ready to - many times this includes induction at the hospital (it's called "failure to progress"). Do you have to be induced? I would ask for another week, and go from there.

There are several things you can do to help things get going. It just depends on what you need to jump start the labor. For example - is baby in the correct position? (sometimes if baby is posterior, labor doesn't start as well ), is your cervix "ripe" (soft and squishy, dilated or effaced?) - if not, bd'ing could help. Sometimes you just neeed... time.

Relax. Clean your house. Make sure your laundry is caught up. Eat out for lunch and dinner. Go shopping at the mall. None of these will help you go into labor but you will be ready! So now that you are ready -- have sex (if your doctor says it is okay). The prostaglandins in semen will cause uterine contractions that may get your labor started. You may also find nipple stimulation is effective in the same way. Good luck!

Just get walking, have sex if you feel up to it. Just because you're not in labour yet does not mean you'll have to be induced. My first came two days past due, no signs of labour prior to the contractions starting...my second was one day late, again, no signs until labour hit. Hang tight. Chances are labour will start on its own pretty darned soon.

Try walking, squats, or sex. Its worth a try but they don't always work. Being induced isn't horrible, but I can understand how you'd want to go into labor naturally.

I had my membranes stripped, then walked the mall. I went into labor that night and had my baby at 6 AM the next morning.

Taking a walk or having sex can jump start labor.
