Privacy is important to me because I can feel safe within myself and my thoughts and I know that if I were to be judged it would only be my mind. Privacy is also important to me because sometimes I feel ashamed of what I have done and it saddens me to allow others to see me as I 'am'. It also helps me to feel closed and allows me to experiment with my mind and body without the need for others to pry into my 'personal life' Being able to close in and allow a few certain people into my privacy, where I do not feel threatened by the thoughts of others.
Privacy means a great deal to me, and I appreciate and respect those greatly who allow me to express my privacy without having to show or tell others what I think or feel. However, there are a select few i.e Parents. Who I feel have a slightly obsessiveness into wanting to know everything about me. Understandable of course, I am after all their child. But privacy is important for us to be able feel comfortable with being independant and perhaps less dependant on 'dumping issues' or anything, on others.

To me it is a right. As an individual I want control over my right to be who I am and my information. This is a kind of freedom that I must work to protect like I do my personal safety. To me, my privacy is an important part of what it means to be free. Please check out the website below. It offers opinion and definition as follows:

First, I have to say that Zelda's answer to her ex-husband made me laugh so hard it hurt my ribs!
Without some measure of privacy, we'd get rather addled from all the input, some people more than others. There are many kinds of privacy. Primary, to me, is the "space" needed for introspection, gaining insights--mostly when I have a few moments to write in my journal. Reflecting on things. Being aware of the beauty in a morning mist, scent of fresh cut grass, etc., without distractions.
Definitely the lack of interference from others who have a propensity to tell me what I should or shouldn't do, or are critical about feelings they can never understand. I have little tolerance for them.
No one nosing about in my personal papers, my licking the lid of the coffee creamer! Letting my answering machine pick up messages when I don't feel like talking, instead of someone rushing to answer the phone. Listening to the sound of silence.
I'm sounding like a "loner," but I'm not. In a nutshell, privacy when it's appropriate.

To have privacy sometimes is to hide humility of something or to get into your zone. To expand your own thoughts. Also it would mean that you might have a surprise and you are waiting until the day to reveal it. It's important because it leaves out unwanted comments from other people.

Privacy is important to me, because I am used to spending a lot of my time alone, especially since the youngest one went off to college. When I was growing up I was alone and used to a lot of space. Privacy means a lot more than physical privacy - intimate conversations and acts without an audience, the ability to write something without prying eyes. The worst kind of privacy violation is when someone tries to blunder their way forcefully into your mind and consciousness. "What are you thinking?", "What are you thinking?", "What are you thinking now?" asked my Ex-husband all the time. Finally I said, "I'm thinking about what it would be like to get a divorce."

it is important to me because that is when i can soul search and get to know yourself better. it is a time to reflect on the things that you have done.IT means to me that it is not secrets but your inner thoughts and feelings. it is things that you want to keep in your heart and do not want to share with others.

It means knowing that "big brother" is not watching my every move. Not because I've something to hide, but because I've nothing to hide.
