As commander-in-chief, he would be able to pull the military out of Iraq and other locations at his discretion. From statements that he has made, the withdrawals would be done in an orderly fashion with input from military leaders. It would probably be done in a matter of months - certainly not more than a year.

Contrary to some dooms-day opinions on here, I think that move would win much admiration across the world. I really do believe that most of the enemies of the U.S. have political grievances. If however, any are foolish enough to attack the United States, there would be a lot of resources on which to draw to actually capture the criminals rather than using their actions as excuses to engage in nation building.

Domestically, I think that Ron Paul has a harder battle. I see his opponents resisting his policies. I fear that they will be able to sabotage his policies or effectively turn the public against him if anything bad happens to the economy or to U.S. "interests" around the world. Economically, I think that we're already on the path to problems. I doubt that Ron Paul could stop them from happening.

Indeed, some of his solutions could pose short term difficulties. As another responder said (albeit with a different opinion as I), if he was actually successful in dismantling bureaucracies, there would be a lot of people out of work. Never mind that they are already essentially unemployed as far as producing anything. They have been receiving incomes. If their reintroduction in the productive workforce is not done carefully, their plight could be used against Ron Paul.

I suspect that in order for his domestic agenda to have any permanent effect, a battle will have to be won over public opinion. If it is, some politicians will see the writing on the wall and work with President Paul to dismantle big government. Others will be replaced by members of the new movement.

Will that battle be won? I have no idea. But as others have said, let's elect him and find out.

It would be a great time in history. some people and politicians at first would be angry simply b/c it is hard for people to accept change. We are taught in school about the greatness our country was founded upon but some people will not be able to easily accept those principles in real life. People are afraid of what they do not know or understand. People would do whatever they want, they would live more rewarding lives. The world would appreciate us more and we may find we have more allies in the world. Perhaps government would quit lying to us so much, such as the bilderberger, nwo, eugenics, wwIII etc. The FBI, CIA, and IRS would be gone...that right there is a huge leap forward. Perhaps we could end the war on drugs and learn to profit from the sale of drugs along with using them for medicinal purposes as most of them are intended and very good at compared to many medicines today. the list could go on forever, point is the world will be a better place.

RON PAUL REVOLUTION 2008!!!

It would be the best thing that could ever happen to this country since 1776. It would mean the beginning of the dismantling of the machine that enslaves us all, whether you want to admit it or not. It would mean the end of imperial wars which have no bearing on our defense. It would mean a coherent immigration policy, where people are here to better their lives, not get handouts. It would mean the end of the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, the new Homegrown Terrorist Act, and all other trampling of rights we are now subject to.

Most importantly, it would be the beginning of the long process to introduce a sound money policy, not the current fiat policy, which ruins the average American due to inflation.

Oh, and don't forget the dismantling of the tax system, which steals 1/3 of your paycheck.

Basically, nothing but good can happen. Register Republican, vote Ron Paul. Saving our Constitution has never been easier.

Ron Paul would be the reset button for America's politics which have become very very polarized, and inefficient. Things that should be done at the state level, can get done. People would be able to save a big chunk of their paycheck, and we would have a strong defense, rather than an overextended offense. Can't wait!

Hard to tell.

I think he has very very good ideas, but so do the Libertarian candidates, and some other 3rd party candidates, of whom nobody ever speaks. And few even hear of, since our major parties suppress them viciously, even with vote stealing to keep them small and weak in elections. Yes this has been proven many many times!!

The Demopublicans know the potential power of the 3rd party in a country so evenly divided, so they conspire to keep the 3rd parties small and unheard from, by the news media blackouts, by stealing votes from them, threats, and various other underhanded means to keep them from being heard by the people and becoming a factor. They are not 100% successful as shown by Nader and Perot!

In general, at first he would be opposed by the career political hacks, and they would attempt to stonewall and bully him into ineffectualness. Try to run roughshod over him, ignoring the Constitution. He would have to spend some time exercising his Presidential powers to clean out the lower levels and get cooperation.

After he proved man enough to stand them down, he could do a great deal of good in this country, tho he would always be bitterly opposed by those who benefited by being the power groups before. I would not envy him, as he would be slandered from both right and left, and folks from both sides would never give up trying to knock him down. Even if they had to lie, and even if they had to work knowingly against the good of our people.

If in spite of all the fanatical non-cooperation he survived and brought more good men of his persuasion in in another election, i think we would see a lot of progress as government was simplified and cleaned out and began to work as the Constitution set it up to do, and we could find our goodness and greatness and real prosperity retuning.

New Zealand did something of this sort about 30 years ago, I have read, and increased freedom greatly, and lowered government costs greatly, and brought great prosperity. Wish more people would read about this; shows the way! And it really does work, once the deadwood and obstructionists are weeded out and put to honest labor.

I wish I could see that happening here. Ron Paul might be our best hope at the moment.

Big government interfering with every aspect of American life would slowly become a thing of the past as Americans once again would have to take responsibility for their well being in a FREE market society.

Once the sound money bill again becomes law,
Example only:

Constantly rising prices would also become a thing of the past.

Our younger generations would not be asked to risk or give their lives in empire building wars.

Personally, it would be like a breath of very fresh air, knowing we had a President who had the BEST interests of "We The People" foremost in his mind on every political issue.

Ron Paul, A Man Americans Can TRUST, to NOT be manipulated!!!!
Thank you.

Of course they would! Why should physically hard working Americans, thru taxation, support the large "Un-Productive" segment of society anyway?

America will get the treatment it needs. Just like a bitter pill, it will be hard to swallow, but it will be good for us.

America has been on growth hormones and steroids for so long, it will have a difficult time adjusting to a more natural and healthy life-style. But it will be better and America will live a much longer, prosperous, and healthy life, politically, and economically speaking.

It would be rough at first, the established politicans will not embrace Ron Pauls ideals at first. Over time, America would recover and become a stronger country.

It would be a fresh breath of air, but a lot of the political types
might well panic, knowing all their pet projects could be in
trouble. Pork, as we know it, would be history. Eliminating the federal deficit and the trade deficit would be the biggies.
His most difficult undertaking would be the dismantling of the
IRS. That is something I have dreamed of for my lifetime.
