I have two 1 GB sticks of G.skill ddr2 800 (PC2 6400) of Ram. I also have a 1 GB stick of Super Talent ddr2 533 (PC2 4200), which is slower. Would it benefit me to add the slower gig of memory, or should I not add it. Thanks. By the way My system is a AMD X2 6000+ and an ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe. Thank you

If you put two different Dimms on your computer it will run at the slowest speed so if you have one running at 800mhz and the other at 533 both will work at 533, so keep the two of 800mhz, besides i think 2GB of RAM is more than enough for daily work on a computer.

DDR is backwards compatible. It will down clock the other two sticks down to the lower speed. The only benefit you would see is if you were already taxing the the 2 gig of ram, which unless you are doing some serious gaming your probably not. Even then, I doubt the extra ram would make up for the almost half speed it will be running, So unless you are constantly sucking up those first sticks in you apps I wouldn't bother.

it is advisable to use RAM which have same ratings or else it will cause problems.

to me, i rather choose stable system with 2 gig ram than constantly rebooting the OS with 3 gig ram and anyways, winxp wont recongize any ram that is more than 2 gig.

I doubt your system will boot or run with the 2 different speeds of ddr installed.

If you are using Windows XP, more than 2GB is mostly wasted extra memory.

The new memory will not work on your computer. From http://fixit.in
